In terms of flowers, this year, my heart was set on
the architectural silhouette of the Mammoth Russian
and Honey Bear (annual) sunflowers.

The idea of having a small urban kitchen garden was primarily prompted by the desire to grow, tend to and harvest heirloom vegetables and heritage fruits; forgotten flower and herb varieties. My husband and I have been able to make and maintain that commitment for a little over two years and are rather pleased with the result- especially when the time comes to harvest our well-cared for (organic) produce.
