I
learned the basics of cooking growing up in Port-au-Prince (Haiti) where
it was important for my mother to have her two sons and two daughters know how
to prepare traditional Haitian dishes.
She had known all along that her four children would leave their native
country in order to carve another path for themselves; and wanted each of us to
maintain a sense of connection to our native land.
Today, I do so mostly through the prism of my multicultural cooking background and international influence.
