Photoshoot: sur les traces de mon histoire!
On Monday, October 25, 2010, Paul and I headed south to visit Le Chateau de JOUX- that shaped the history of Ayiti Haiti. This monument has a (very) long stantding historical value for Alsaciens, French and Haitians due to its past content, and prisonners of war.
It is also the place where Toussaint Louverture- a former slave earned his freedom, forged his personality, and instilled the grain of liberty to his people- was imprisonned by Napoléon Bonaparte because Louverture presented a greater risk to his maintaining slavery in the island of Hispagnola.
Unfortunately, Louverture died in the Fort de JOUX in April of 1803, but his words will resonate forever in the soul of the Haitian people: En me renversant on a abattu à St-Domingue que le tronc de l'arbre de la liberté des Noirs. Il poussera par les racines parce qu'elles sont profondes et nombreuses.
