# 20: plein soleil.couleurs.festival

° on Wednesday, May 18th, i boarded the late-night TGV train in direction of NICE. the trip took a little over 12 hours. i was able to see some countryside leading me toward the South of France. ° between the ride from Strasbourg to Cannes- my final destination, right before hitting Nice- i met some interesting people with whom i was able to discuss about the southern lifestyle. one man, accompanied with his white 5-year-old (mini) dog, who is originally from Mulhouse (Alsace), told me that he has spent most of his career in Cannes as an engineer and LOVED it; but he goes visit his family and friends on the North East of France quite often. when i told him that it is my second time attending the Cannes Film Festival, he insisted that i went to the Forville local farmers' market, for one has not truly seen Cannes unless one has been to this open air market. needless to say that i was stunned, speechless when i tasted the summer fruits from the South! ° after getting my all-access-entrance badge, i found it appropirate to immortalize this moment, for it might be my last at the Cannes Film Festival. +sniff+sniff+ ° this was a little artisanal shop which specialties are children's (and children at heart) wooden toys and such! ° one of the dishes i most anticipate when we go to Cannes is the fresh fish and seafood that are prepared in the local restaurants. ° yesteday i discovered this tiny sardines boutique. of all variety and provenance. only in France (i think) that people are so so so passionate about specialty shops and boutiques like these. +smile+smile+ ° ah! the colours that i've accountered in the south made my day, for real!
