As soon as I learned that my brother and his wife were planning on spending the Christmas season with me and my husband, we had been brainstorming some (holiday) activities to do while in town.

I started to jot down a few ideas on food menu to make at home or places to take them to as to discover the large panel of the local cuisine as well as a few of my own dish creations-- which is an irresistible mix of French, American and, of course, Haitian.

I like to think of those moments as a memory-making ritual since our family members are scattered around different parts of the globe.

I like to think of those moments as vital opportunities to get to know each family member on a personal level-- or as the adults that we have become.
