Photoshoot: les femmes noires doivent reprendre le dessus!
The world of luxury goods has changed over the centuries as it has become fully aware of the fact that money does not have a particular color- or should I make clear that the skin pigmentation of its owners does not matter much as long as it brings profit to those companies.
I will not take offense nor will I allow the words of a 70-year-old white rich male- who is bound to die soon anyway- have an effect on my perception of self-worth: I am black, love the person I am and the work I am accomplishing as a citizen of the world. I have got better things to do; but the GUERLAIN company will be sure to NEVER count me as a customer, and even less as an advocate of their beauty products. This is a fact.
In other words, it means a great potential decline in sales for the internationally known company where some politically engaged customers and sellers will be obligated to resume their purchases in fear of associating with the company. Shall this pass? Well, according to the pattern of human cycle, yes. But a selected few will NEVER forget!
Although the company and JP Guerlain have issued apology statements, I will maintian my point of view because this is a symptom of a much malsaine problem: RACISM- an issue I have been faced with, on a few accounts, even in church community which is the place one would least expect it!
