The pleased nester within me was glad to host
a Spring dinner party for four.
my ultimate favourite aspect?
the entire process of planning each meal
based on what this season has to offer
while taking into consideration
what our guests might enjoy the most.
then, the night before,
i set the most naturally-inspired tabletop
with fresh and dried leaves picked up in the nearby forest.

Appetizers : a homemade boule loaf of bread to make toasts or tartines.

This time around, i dabbled with this recipe :
whole wheat and spelt flours with bits and pieces of sun-dried tomatoes.

In order to set the proper Spring ambiance :
i was inspired by tender floral arrangements scattered around the apartment.

After a nearly half and hour of waiting in line at the farmers' market in my downtown neighbourhood,
i came home with these fresh and organic produce to make a smooth
courgette and fennel soup for the entrée.

To top it all off, I ventured into making an American classic,
a carrot cake
with a cream cheese-coconut frosting.

The evening was delicious.
